A beautiful D-09 from Larrivée's sought-after 1990s period. The D-09 has been Larrivée's workhorse from day one — a guitar you can pick up for anything. We're selling this one on behalf of its owner, out of a well-kept collection.
Unlike the current models from California, this one was still built in Vancouver. Among Larrivée people, the Canadian-built guitars have a mojo of their own, and the 90s are particularly sought after because Jean Larrivée not only saw to the choice of timber but had a hand in building these instruments himself.
Ours comes with an active piezo system, though we can't say for certain whether that came from Larrivée or was fitted later. The D-09 didn't normally have a pickup system at the time, but plenty of customer requests were accommodated. Either way, it sounds excellent and gives a balanced output across all six strings.
The guitar has been well looked after over the past 30 years. It sounds superb, which means it's also been played in properly. Two or three small dents have crept in over the years, which cameras refuse to pick up. It's perfectly set up and captivating to look at and to hear. The neck is fairly slim and plays beautifully. The frets are in good condition; only the case shows a few cosmetic marks.
