One of the rarest signature Les Pauls ever to come out of the Gibson Custom Shop – a bullseye, and not just for T.Rex fans and those about to become one!

Excitement is running high at Meister Ede Guitars, because a limited edition Marc Bolan Aged Les Paul like this doesn't land in your hands every day! Gibson recreated the T.Rex frontman's legendary Les Paul in its best-known form: a Les Paul Model body built to '50s Standard specs, Marc's own DIY refinish of the top – which went down in history as "Bolan Chablis" – and a black Les Paul Custom neck. It's exactly that combination that makes the look so unique: the warm orange glow of the top, a '50s Red back, and the jet-black neck with its bound ebony fretboard, pearl block inlays, holly head veneer with split diamond inlay and gold Grover kidney tuners. You won't find this spellbinding – and seriously addictive – combination on any other Les Paul.

Beneath that striking look sits a Les Paul with genuine Historic ingredients: a one-piece mahogany back, plain maple top, one-piece mahogany neck, ABR-1 bridge and stop tailpiece. And you get the best of both worlds – the Custom's ebony fretboard brings a quick, clear attack and a tight low end, while the Les Paul Standard body delivers the warm, singing tone you'd expect from a '50s Paula. The slim, rounded neck profile is really comfortable to play.

The Custom Shop ageing is very convincingly done, with lovely playing wear on the back and edges – modelled, naturally, on Marc Bolan's original.

The Bolan Paula is loaded with two uncovered Gibson Custom Bucker pickups: zebra in the neck, double black in the bridge. The neck pickup gives you warm, vocal lead tones, while the bridge pickup pushes hard and stays transparent. At 4.41 kg it sits in a good range for a Les Paul with a Custom neck and ebony board, and that mass feeds exactly the full, sustaining tone you want from this Paula. Glam rock, classic rock or blues – this Les Paul can do far more than just "Get It On"!

Take note: serial number 060 of just 100 worldwide! Gibson built the Aged version of the Custom Shop Marc Bolan Les Paul in a strictly limited run, alongside 350 in VOS. Our number 060 sits on the back of the headstock right under the "MARC BOLAN" lettering – a particularly nice number. It comes with the Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity "Marc Bolan Les Paul Aged – Marc Bolan 060".

The guitar was bought used for around €8,500 from Captain Guitar Lounge's private collection. Our Marc Bolan Les Paul is in very well-kept condition. It comes in the original Gibson Custom case with the Certificate of Authenticity featuring a Marc Bolan photo, the Gibson Custom info sheet, a vintage-style strap and case candy, as pictured.
