Carsten Reetz of Limitless Guitars builds fantastic guitars at the very highest level, entirely on his own – masterbuilt, more or less. His idea of a striking design language combined with the finest woods and top-notch hardware wins you over straight away.
Just like Novo Guitars, Limitless uses selected "roasted" pine for the body – Novo calls it "tempered pine".
That makes this beauty extremely light. Our scale tends to read a little high and puts it at 2.87 kg – according to the certificate it's a flat 2.8 kg!
A good part of its first-class tone surely comes from the heavily flamed AAAAA Premium Select roasted flamed maple neck with its gorgeous East Indian rosewood fretboard. The neck has a lovely "medium" C shape that's nicely rounded without broad shoulders. It feels wonderfully smooth, with first-class playability all over the neck, and the 10"–14" compound radius is simply fun to play.
The signal to your amp comes from very dynamic Häussel pickups – the '53 P90 set. Both pickups are especially dynamic, with a wide frequency range.
Our example has been used live and in the studio by professional guitarist Michi Schwiemann (Miss Montreal band)! The flexible sounds and the intonation right across the fretboard, together with the light weight, make this a really interesting guitar for pros who spend long hours on stage.
You'll find the exact specifications on the spec sheet. The guitar comes with a sturdy Limitless Hiscox case. It's a very well played-in example with a current new price of over €4,000. It's been well looked after, but the wafer-thin "brushed" (Novo-style) finish quickly picks up genuine, subtle relic marks (see photos) – which is exactly what gives it the real charm of a working pro's guitar. Unfortunately, the previous owner's tool slipped during a neck adjustment and left a scratch on the headstock (under the strings), which of course we're not going to leave out.
An all-round convincing workhorse, handmade in Germany.
