'25 Fender Custom Shop MBD II 1952 Telecaster Super Heavy Relic Butterscotch Blonde, first owner, handwound Twisted & OBG pickups, Merle Haggard wiring, only 3.38 kg and more
Super Heavy Relic, only 3.38 kg and a whopping €2,500 below the new price?? No need to think twice!
The MBD II Telecaster is a special series that Musikhaus Hermann releases together with the Fender Custom Shop as a "Hermann Spec" edition. What makes it special: the spec goes far beyond a regular Custom Shop Tele and clearly heads towards Masterbuilt territory. New, this Tele costs €6,790 – with us it is yours for €4,290. That is a good €2,500 saved on the new price, for a guitar from 2025.
The Super Heavy Relic catches your eye straight away: the two-piece ash body in heavily aged Butterscotch Blonde is worn extensively and very authentically, paired with the black '51 Nocaster pickguard for the classic Blackguard look. The Custom Shop specifically sorted the ash for low weight ("Sort for lightweight"), and you notice it on the strap right away.
The neck shows lots of attention to detail: one-piece 5/4 quartersawn maple, a 60s oval "C" profile optimised to .820" / .930", 9.5" radius, 21 narrow tall 6105 frets, heavily rolled fingerboard edges and fret ghosting. It feels like a Tele that has been played in for decades, and bends are effortless.
The sound comes from two handwound Custom Shop pickups: a Twisted Tele in the neck and an OBG (Original Blackguard) in the bridge. The 4-way Merle Haggard switch adds both pickups in series to the three classic Tele sounds – really fat and mid-heavy, perfect for leads. Add the Greasebucket tone control and Tone Saver treble bleed, so nothing gets muddy when you roll back. The Gatton bridge with compensated brass saddles delivers the wiry twang you expect from a '52.
Historically correct, it is assembled entirely with slot-head screws, and the neck plate carries the MBD II engraving with R serial number.
This Tele comes from its first owner, a professional player, and – apart from the intended relic finish – it has been kept in top condition. It was originally hand-selected by Musikhaus Hermann. It comes in the original Fender Custom Shop tweed case with Certificate of Authenticity, Shop Floor Traveler, Hand Selected certificate, Custom Shop strap and case candy, as pictured.
For Tele lovers looking for a properly played-in vintage vibe without paying the full new price – an opportunity not to be missed!
