`26 Ben Wasser Indie Shaft 09, Reverse Headstock, Gold Sparkle Relic, Brandonwound PU´s, Mastery Vibrato, only 3.56kg – from Ede's Private Stock and more
A Reverse Headstock AND a Relic Gold Sparkle finish on a Ben Wasser: that has never existed before! This Indie Shaft is the first Ben Wasser with a reverse headstock. Meister Ede had it custom built for himself this year, and it was finished in July 2026.
Behind Ben Wasser Guitarworks stands luthier Benjamin Wasservogel, who has an unusual story: born in Paris and raised in the south of France, he first worked as a lawyer and founded an internet company in the 90s before moving to Israel. In 2010 he began his training as a luthier under Jacob Algranati in Tel Aviv, followed in 2014 by his first own brand, La Grange Guitars, and finally Ben Wasser Guitarworks in 2022. In his workshop in Jerusalem he builds in small numbers and only to order. His guitars are played by Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance) and the Israeli blues guitarist Lazer Lloyd, among others.
The shape of the Shaft is a statement: angular, confident and a real eye-catcher on any stage. With the reverse headstock, where all six tuners sit in a row, it gets a look all of its own. The finish is Gold Glitter Flakes over Metallic Gold over Black, aged in relic style: the flakes sparkle in the light, there are fine lacquer cracks, and the black underneath shows through at the edges. The back of the neck has an oil finish instead of lacquer.
Light Korina body, mahogany neck, Indian Rosewood fretboard with celluloid block inlays, 10" radius and medium jumbo frets. A Brandonwound Custom Mini Humbucker sits at the neck and a Brandonwound T-Top at the bridge. The bridge pickup can be switched between parallel and series wiring with a push/pull pot, giving you two sounds in one position: more open and brighter in parallel, stronger and punchier in series. On top comes a Mastery Vibrato, which is known for its tuning stability.
Meister Ede could not decide on a pickguard, so he ordered several straight away. Besides the black one there is a 3-ply tortoise and an aged pearl, and the photos in the gallery show all three. At the moment the Shaft is on stage with the black pickguard.
