Meister Ede's second Qcumber, now available as the demo instrument.
Ede is always on the lookout for small, serious boutique workshops, which is how the collaboration with Micha at Qcumber Guitars came about back in 2024. Michael Gorissen is the builder behind Qcumber. In his workshop in the south of Cologne he makes one-offs by hand — no CNC, no pre-made parts. The wood is hand-picked, chosen for weight as well as looks, and the only finish he uses is nitro, applied very thinly.
Back in 2024 Ede specified a fantastic korina Sin with Micha. It was finished in 2025, spent a little time on the road with him, and was then auctioned for the charity “Mutige Kinder e.V.” for a mid five-figure sum. This one went out on Ede's Christmas tour at the end of 2025, so it's nicely played in and carries some genuine wear — which gives it a charming vintage look. Technically everything is spot on.
With its set neck and korina body, the “Sin” is built for push, sustain and a direct, honest tone. The aluminium tailpiece, tune-o-matic, Gotoh tuners and Heavy Horse “Royal Dawn” pickups give it cut without so much output that the character of the timber disappears. There's also a bass cut on a push/pull for when you want things leaner or funkier. The voicing is spot on and makes a great deal of sense in a band with busy arrangements.
At 3 kg and nicely balanced, the Sin stays comfortably light. Take a look at the shape, which is beautifully executed, and at the smart wooden inlays and tortoise binding, which make Qcumber's ambitions clear — and these are built in very small numbers. Which lands us at a genuine bargain, for a handmade instrument from just down the road, built to a very high standard.
