Suwak Custom Guitars are built by hand by Kawus Adni-Azar from the finest timber, and their standing in the boutique scene keeps growing — deservedly so. We're an official dealer for these instruments and work closely with Kawus to plan one-off builds for our customers.
Here's a beautiful Jazzmaster-style in a relic Aztek Gold nitro finish — a real head-turner. The aim of this order was to create a Jazzmaster unlike any other, one that would also appeal to players who'd never quite got on with the model. It had to look exceptional and have a distinct character of its own.
The neck is substantial and made entirely of rosewood, with smart perloid inlays. Alongside the usual Suwak 12" radius and grippy medium jumbo frets, it's been given an oil and wax treatment for that velvety feel and the look that goes with it — a Kawus speciality. The reverse headstock is a favourite custom option of Ede's, and it isn't only for show: it changes how the string tension is distributed.
Kawus chose a two-piece body in light alder to keep the weight down while still giving the brighter rosewood neck the right partner underneath it. The Aztek Gold is sprayed wafer-thin in nitro and covered in very fine, authentic crackle with some heavier relic marks here and there.
The Häussel pickups make the most of that well-seasoned timber. With plenty of sustain and shimmering highs, this Jazzmaster is perfectly happy clean, and the “jazz” circuit is musically judged and gives you extra sounds when you want them. Its natural home, though, is probably in slightly driven territory, where the Göldo tremolo and a few pedals open up a lot of ground. Everything here is top quality and carefully thought through — masterbuilt work.
